The Highest Paid Players In The World After Messi Extension

FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi signed his new contract on Saturday, and now reportedly earns almost twice as much as Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Argentine finally put pen to paper on hisnew deal, which will expire in 2021, and although the club did not announce any official figure, it is widely known that he received a massive increase.
Messi is now reportedly earning €40 million (R657 million) a year, joining Carlos Tevez as the highest paid player in the world right now, according to Gazezette dello Sport journalist Tancredi Palmeri.
Messi and Tevez earn almost twice as much as Real Madrid talisman Ronaldo, who is only in fifth place with his €21 million (R345 million) annual salary.
Neymar completes the podium after his world record move to Paris Saint-Germain, where he now reportedly pockets €30 million (R493 million) annually, while former Chelsea midfielder Oscar is the second player in the top five who plies his trade in China, where he is understood to earn €24 million (R394 million) a year.
In Hulk (€20 million, R328 million), Axel Witsel (€18 million, R296 million) and Graziano Pelle (€16 million, R263 million), three more players playing in the Far East follow, before Robert Lewandowski and Gareth Bale (both €15 million, R246 million) complete the top 10.
Note: All figures are basic annual salaries after deductions, but excluding bonus payments and endorsements, as reported by Tancredi Palmeri.
